Coimbatore: Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) is preparing to make its entry into Coimbatore with a
planned large-format jewellery showroom on 100 ft Road, marking a significant
move in the brand’s next phase of retail expansion.
The development was indicated through VBJ’s recent Tiruppur
showcase communication, where the brand announced that “Coimbatore’s largest
VBJ jewellery showroom” is coming soon. While the official launch date has not
yet been announced, the announcement places Coimbatore firmly within VBJ’s
growth map for western Tamil Nadu.
The Coimbatore plan comes at a time when VBJ is pursuing a
wider domestic and international expansion strategy. According to The Times
of India, the 125-year-old jewellery retailer is investing around ₹ 500
crore in its expansion plans and is aiming to grow its revenue from over ₹
2,400 crore to ₹ 5,000 crore in the next 18 months, with a longer-term target
of ₹ 10,000 crore.
As part of this expansion, VBJ is expected to strengthen its
presence in Tamil Nadu and enter Telangana, with new stores planned in
Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Hyderabad. The company is also adding locations
in Chennai, including T Nagar and Chromepet, along with a new 14,000 sq ft
showroom in the city.
For VBJ, Coimbatore represents more than a location
addition. The city is one of Tamil Nadu’s important jewellery consumption
centres, supported by strong bridal demand, traditional gold buying, family-led
jewellery purchases and rising interest in diamonds, platinum and solitaire
jewellery. A large-format showroom on 100 ft Road is expected to give the brand
a stronger retail platform in western Tamil Nadu and bring its heritage-led
jewellery offering closer to customers in the region.
Founded in 1900, VBJ has built its identity around legacy
craftsmanship, South Indian jewellery traditions and premium retail trust. The
brand’s upcoming Coimbatore showroom signals how established jewellery houses
are now looking beyond core metropolitan markets to build deeper regional
visibility.
The Coimbatore announcement also follows VBJ’s Tiruppur
jewellery showcase, scheduled for 23 ,24 and 25 May at RK Residency, Label
Hall, Avinashi Road. The showcase features gold, diamond, platinum and
solitaire jewellery, creating a regional customer engagement platform ahead of
the brand’s planned Coimbatore expansion.
With this move, VBJ is positioning western Tamil Nadu as an
important part of its next growth chapter. The upcoming showroom is expected to
strengthen the brand’s connection with customers seeking heritage, trust and a
wider jewellery buying experience under one roof.
