Bvlgari is strengthening its jewellery craftsmanship legacy through Scuola Bvlgari, a training school housed inside the Maison’s Manifattura in Valenza, Italy. Created in collaboration with TADS – Tarì Design School, the initiative marks Bvlgari’s first jewellery school open to the public and has been training students since September 2025.
The school has been created to prepare new talent for the
technical world of jewellery making. Rather than focusing only on design, the
training gives students direct exposure to the practical skills behind fine
jewellery production. Through classroom learning and workshop practice,
students are introduced to the discipline, patience and precision required to
work in high-end jewellery.
Scuola Bvlgari currently focuses on two main professional
courses: Goldsmithing and Stone-Setting. The Goldsmithing course
trains students in the handling of precious metals and the creation of
jewellery components. Students learn techniques including soldering, cutting,
polishing, wax modelling, ring and bracelet sizing, clasp making and lost-wax casting.
The course also introduces students to technical drawing and gemology, giving
them a broader understanding of how a jewellery piece moves from concept to
final finish.
The Stone-Setting course focuses on the careful placement of
gemstones, one of the most detailed areas of jewellery craftsmanship. Students
are trained to work with specialist tools and learn setting techniques such as
pavé, bezel, channel, bead, prong and solitaire settings. The course also
includes theoretical lessons on precious stones, helping students understand
both the technical and aesthetic value of gems.
The school is also designed for people entering the
jewellery industry for the first time. Applicants are expected to have a high
school diploma, manual aptitude and a strong interest in jewellery. By opening
this pathway to new learners, Bvlgari is creating a wider entry point into a
craft that has often been shaped by traditional workshops and long-established
industry networks.
Beyond technical training, Scuola Bvlgari also reflects a
wider shift in the luxury jewellery sector. Recent coverage has highlighted the
role of the school in encouraging more women to enter jewellery craftsmanship,
a field that has historically been male dominated. This gives the project a
broader purpose: preserving Italian savoir-faire while supporting a more
diverse generation of artisans.
With its mix of heritage, hands-on training and modern
